On Tuesday, June 6, the Athens County Democratic Central Committee decided to appoint Ric Wasserman to serve out the rest of the term as Athens County Treasurer. Wasserman will be succeeding Bill Bias, who served in the position for five years. He will run for the position in the November midterm election.
Wasserman is a well established small business owner in the Athens community and a dedicated Democrat. He comes with a lot of experience working with local non-profits and governmental entities. He currently serves as the vice-chair of the board for the Appalachian Center for Economic Networks (ACEnet) and vice-chair for the Athens County Regional Planning Commission. Previously, he helped establish the Athens Uptown Business Association, served on the board of Planned Parenthood of Southeast Ohio.
In an article from Athens News, Wasserman said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to do good things for my beloved Athens County, and I’m really looking forward to getting my feet wet and learning everything there is to know about this job, while helping other officeholders to run the county efficiently.”
